Diamond clarity is a quality of diamonds relating to the existence and visual appearance of internal characteristics of a diamond called inclusions, and surface defects called blemishes.

- DIAMOND POLISH
Polish refers to the degree of smoothness of each facet of a diamond.
The polish grade as determined by the GIA, using the following scale:
- EXCELLENT: No polish defects visible at 10x magnification.
- VERY GOOD: Any defects are extremely difficult to see at 10x magnification.
- GOOD: Any defects are difficult to see at 10x magnification.
- FAIR: Defects are noticeable at 10x magnification, and may be visible to the naked eye.
- POOR: Defects are visible to the naked eye.
- DIAMOND SYMMETRY
Symmetry refers to how precisely the various facets of a diamond align and intersect. The symmetry grade scale is the same as the polish grade scale above. The symmetry grade modulated according to the type of cutting.
- DIAMOND FLUORESCENCE
Fluorescence is the reaction of trace minerals within the diamond that cause the diamond to glow when exposed to ultraviolet light.
Fluorescence is a parameter that can improve the color of the diamond.
Certificates play a large role in determining the value of diamonds. There are many diamond grading laboratories around the world with their own strict standards.
